Hello!

My name is Data Lomadze, I am a technical designer and a Creative Media and Game Technologies graduate. I specialize in working in engines such as Unity and Unreal. I spent my last 3 semesters working on VR projects in Unreal. During my projects I have worked on a myriad of different aspects of games like Game Design, Level Design, Sound Design, C# Programming, Blueprint Programming, 3D Modelling, Texturing, Backend Development and UI/UX.

Projects

VR Detective

The Game

I did my graduation internship at the University of Aberdeen. They are researching how congnitively demanding tasks impact memory. As the cognitively demanding task, I made them a mixed reality VR detective puzzle game where players are brought into a room and are tasked with solving a serial murder mistery. They are presented with a VR headset, a physical box and a laptop. The VR headset contains crime scenes people can navigate and look at evidence. The box is a collection of all the relevant documents and pieces of evidence to the game. Since the premise of the game is that the killings take place in a company town which only employees of a specific company can access, the laptop contains a database of hundreds of employees. The players are tasked with filtering through the database according to the information gathered from the crime scenes and the evidence. They are asked to pick out a single suspect at the end.

My Contribution

I was the only developer working on the game. The crime scenes were made in Unreal Engine and the employee database was developed in Unity. I did all the design work, all the programming and level design using purchased assets. You can click here in order to download my internship report and find out in greater details what I did.

VR Trauma Experience

The Game

An interactive VR experience designed to simulate an early case of domestic abuse. Players take the role of a bystander witnessing an argument between a couple. The purpose of the experiment is to study the effects of repeated memory behaviour on people with traumatic experiences. Created in Unreal Engine.

My Contribution

I was in charge of interactions. I worked on sound design, recording and cleaning up the motion capture data. I made the function for eye tracking and I helped with 3D modelling. You can go here to look at a much more detailed overview of what I did.

XR Lab Internship

The Internship

For my internship at XR Lab, we mostly worked with Unreal Engine VR Applications and some Unity web apps. I mostly focused on a few projects. First one was Bariatric care. A VR simulation game for people who had gotten a bariatric surgery where they would be put into a simulated VR supermarket where they learn about different food items and their nutritional value. Another project I had a hand in is Burnout Reintegration made for training purposes where we emulated through VR what it is like to feel a burnout. And the last major project I worked on was a learning platform for EUREGIO where students are tasked with collaborating together between different classes to work out and agree on solutions to common issues.

My Contribution

For the Bariatric Care I was the main designer and the engineer of the project. I did research on the target audience and worked closely with clients and doctors to come up with solutions to the issues they were facing. I did a lot of game mechanics in the game using Unreal Engine Blueprints, made all the UX and some of the UI elements and was in charge of the testing and prototyping. I also helped with some 3D Modelling and Texturing. For the Burnout Reintegration, I was mostly in charge of the sound design. I recorded and processed all of the sound effects and also made some scripts in blueprints to make the sound adaptive so we can make sure to up the intensity of the experience the longer the player interacts with it after some time. As for EUREGIO, I made the entire Unity project. Our lead engineer had created a backend for questions and possible answers and it was up to me to work with the API in order to show and store the data. I was also in charge of making all of the UI functional within Unity. You can click here in order to download my internship report and find out in greater details what I did.

Furfare

The Game

Furfare is a up to 4 player pvp game, where you play as cats/dogs and try to eliminate other players by hitting them with pet toys while calculating the trajectory of different kinds of projectiles and using the movement mechanics and abilities to your advantage.

My Contribution

I was in charge of coming up with game mechanics, projectiles and power ups. I also did some level design and UX design. On top of that I did the UI implementation in Unity and wrote the code for power ups, random voice lines and all the sound effects.

Kasa

Kasa

The Game

Kasa is a physics-based puzzle game where you need to solve puzzles by using the laws of physics. There were 7 students working on the game and the development cycle took a week.

My Contribution

I mostly took a role of the project manager, I was in charge of the planning for the game, playtests and task management.I also worked on game design, level design, promotional solutions, cotroller design and presentations for the game.

Shifter

The Game

Shifter is a top-down arcade game where you need to fight off waves of enemies and get a top score. You can switch between three characters and combine their abilities in smart ways. The game was made by 7 students and the development took 10 days.

My Contribution
